Review: C. Tangana’s “Avida Dollars”

Published by

Under names from Crema to Agorazein, Antón Álvarez Alfaro, known now to the world as C. Tangana, has remained one of Madrid’s most promising rap talents through the 2000s and 2010s. His latest mixtape, Avida Dollars, attempts to reconcile Alfaro with the breezier sounds of modern trap music, delivering 23 minutes of airy, brag-centric anthems. The results are somewhat mixed: though strong renditions manifest on the project’s latter half, the sound of Avida Dollars is of a musician still finding his place in newer climes.

Read my full review of this breezy tape here, and catch the highlights of the project in my curated playlist below.
