The Context: For their latest blockbuster, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Marvel enlisted pan-Asian giants 88Rising for an authentic take on the film’s soundtrack.
Rather than a simple collection of “All The Stars”-like hits, the 88Rising team conceptualized the album around the Asian-American narratives at the core of the film, with a specific focus on California – the home of both 88Rising, and Shang-Chi himself. Alongside frequent appearances from flagship 88 artists Rich Brian and NIKI, the album features a diverse range of talents, including JJ Lin, Anderson .Paak, 21 Savage, Keshi, DPR, Warren Hue, Audrey Nuna, and many more.
